Omar Wilson has an impressive career of 30 years in management with a focus upon human resources and operations management. Since 1999, until he became Executive Director in 2002, Mr. Wilson was an executive consultant to Connection Training Services where he designed and implemented a comprehensive training and employment program for this non-profit organization, whose goal is to facilitate employment opportunities for less-resourced populations including ex-offenders, welfare-to-work clients, at-risk youth, the unemployed and the homeless.
In recognition of this effort and his relationship building skills with federal, state and local corrections agencies, Mr. Wilson won the 2004 Community Corrections Professional of the Year Award from the Community Corrections Association of Pennsylvania. During his tenure, Connection Training Services has been awarded a number of new federal grants including the President’s Prisoner Re-Entry Initiative, YouthBuild, Face Forward 1 and Face Forward II Intermediary Grants and Training to Work Adult Re-Entry, all from the U.S. Department of Labor.
His organization has been awarded grants that include an after-school Youth Empowerment Program, Adult Mentoring and Mentoring Young Fathers from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Mentoring Children of Incarcerated Parents from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Connection Training Services has won many training grants from Philadelphia Works, formerly called the Private Industry Council.
Mr. Wilson has infused the executive leadership team with an innovative managerial philosophy based upon creating and retaining highly productive, highly motivated employees that are customer oriented.
Mr. Wilson holds a BS Degree in Business Management from La Salle University and an Associates Degree in Business Management from Pierce Junior College. He is a State of Pennsylvania Notary Public, a Board Member of the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Community Services and the Vice President of the Community Corrections Association of Pennsylvania.
